How rules are made

Paid Leave Oregon believes everyone deserves time to care for themselves and the ones they love when they need it most. This is why we’re creating a program that gives everyone the benefits they have already earned. We need to make sure the right policies, rules and guidelines are in place.

What is rulemaking?

Rulemaking is how we develop the requirements that shape the Paid Leave Oregon program are made—and who makes them. It’s important to have a group of people who represent all of our Oregon communities making these decisions. That’s why the Rulemaking Advisory Committee is responsible for creating the rules for how Paid Leave Oregon is rolled out.
